A new campaign is under way to build consumer awareness of biscuit bar McVitie's Medley. The activity includes a free Blippar app, which enables consumers to watch the new McVitie's Medley band, The Medley Mixers.

Stirring up soups

Following the successful introduction of its Squeeze & Stir cup soup range last year, Heinz is launching two new varieties as well as its first multipack. Heinz Squeeze & Stir comes in handy, squeezable sachets with a recommended retail price (rrp) of 59p.

Maltesers go Fairtrade

Maltesers are now Fairtrade certified. The move is part of brand owner Mars Chocolate's commitment to source its entire supply of cocoa from sustainable sources by 2020.

Nestlé is launching a range of smaller treats for children comprising: Smarties Finger Puppets; Rowntree's Jelly Aliens; Milkybar Kid bar and a single Animal Bar. Prices start at 20p.

Seasonal sales

Reckitt Benckiser is running a Seasonal Affected Throat campaign in a bid to grow the throat care category during the summer. It includes radio and digital advertising.

Jeremy joins Coke in Kiev

Top 50 Indie Jeremy Symonds was in good company in Kiev last month as he supported England against Sweden at Euro 2012. He was among a 120-strong contingent of UK trade competition winners on a trip organised by tournament sponsor Coca Cola. Julian Hunt, head of communications at CCE, said: "The competition helped retailers and wholesalers get behind the Coca Cola activity and engage with their customers in the build-up to Euro 2012."

Apples and pears

Heineken is launching Strongbow pear, which it describes as the "first pear flavoured everyday cider in the on- and off-trade". It is available in price-marked six x 330ml bottle and four x 500ml cans especially for the convenience trade.
