Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have all announced 1ppl price cuts in unleaded petrol and diesel.

Morrisons announced that it had made the cut on October 20 and Tesco, which now bills itself as “Britain’s biggest fuel retailer”, made the cut from 6pm the same day. Sainsbury’s followed with the same cut on October 21

Peter Cattell, fuel director for Tesco, said: “We know that the cost of fuel really matters to our customers, especially with the school holidays coming up. This reduction of 1ppl at all our 500 petrol filing stations will mean millions of customers save money by shopping at Tesco”.

Sainsbury’s pointed out it was already running a Nectar points promotion during October which it said was equivalent to 5ppl off and Avishai Moor, Sainsbury’s head of fuel, added: “This price drop, combined with one of our biggest ever points giveaways, provides our customers with excellent value. We hope this will help their money go even further, as they enjoy their half-term getaways.”
