Top 50 Indie Sewell on the go has announced a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support in a bid to raise at least £1,000 for the charity.

From Thursday, May 5 to Friday, May 13, 15 pence will be donated from every hot drink sold by the East Yorkshire forecourt operator, including Costa, hot chocolate or tea.

Collections tins will also be placed in all 12 stores across Hull and the East Riding during the period and, if £1,000 is raised, it could cover the cost of a nurse for 1.5 days.

Sewell on the go managing director Patrick Sewell said: “We supported Macmillan Cancer Support through our own coffee morning last year and raised a couple of hundred pounds.

“Cancer affects so many people and we are proud to support this charity in the great work it does. This is our first official promotion with Macmillan and we’ll also support their main Coffee Morning event in September.

“This promotion coincides with National Beverage Day on May 6 and International nurses Day on May 12, which is a nice link.”

Becky Baynes, Macmillan fundraising manager for Hull and East Yorkshire, said: “We are excited that Sewell on the go is launching its partnership with Macmillan on May 5 with its coffee promotion at all stores.

“It is wonderful to be so well supported by all the staff at Sewell on the go and we thank them for choosing to help people affected by cancer.

“Macmillan Cancer Support is 99% funded by donations and we could not carry out our work without the thoughtfulness and generosity of companies like Sewell on the go. Together, we will make a huge difference to patients and their families facing their most difficult times.”
