Valero has moved to reassure its customers that it is working to maintain supplies after a leak in Carmarthen, Wales, forced it to shut down one of the main pipelines from its Pembroke Refinery.

The pipeline supplies fuel to its terminals at Kingsbury, Warwickshire, and in Manchester.

In a statement it said: “Valero has experienced a breach on the mainline pipeline in south Wales, which supplies fuel to Manchester and Kingsbury terminals, and as a result the pipeline is closed until further notice.

“We are working to remedy the situation as quickly as possible. In the meantime we have made alternative plans to source product from elsewhere and therefore expect to be able to meet deliveries to retail contracted customers, however please bear with us as we adjust to these new plans.”
