A man and woman have been charged in connection with an alleged robbery at a petrol station in Barnsley, during which a cashier was hit by a car being driven off.

Michelle Carr was injured after another assistant noticed that a driver had taken a lot more fuel than his car’s capacity and Michelle went out to ask him what he was doing, and check that it was safe.

Scott Adam Dearing, 30, of no fixed abode, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 December charged with robbery, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, making off without payment, and possession of an article used in connection with fraud.

Appearing alongside him was 28-year-old Charlene Louise Beadman, of Jennings Close, Rotherham, charged with robbery and making off without payment.

They have both been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday 5 January 2017.

The charges relate to an incident at the Jet-branded Park Road Garage, Worsbrough Common, at around 1.10pm on Sunday 4 December.
