Applegreen switches to full recyclable coffee cups

Top 50 Indie Applegreen has reinforced its environmental credentials by switching to using fully recyclable paper cups across its estate.

Applegreen is using the reCUP, which is made by CupPrint. These cups use EarthCoating, a fully recyclable lining engineered to be processed easily through traditional paper recycling equipment, which can be recycled into new paper products.

Conor Lucey, head of operations at Applegreen, said: "We are delighted to be able to make the switch and play our part in reducing non-recyclable waste." Terry Fox, general manager of CupPrint, said: "At CupPrint we specialise in creating branded paper cups for all operators, from smaller independents to large multi-site operators and now these cups can be fully recyclable too."

When a major car manufacturer like Ford predicts that sales of its electrified cars will outnumber petrol and diesel models by 2022, does that ring alarm bells about the possible speed of change for forecourts?
