Forecourt Trader - 30 years at the heart of the fuel retailing community

Under the spotlight: Jack Aplin, Eurotank

Career history: I have spent almost my entire career with Eurotank except for a short spell at Tesco on the checkouts. As the company expanded I was given the opportunity to take on more responsibility and I have grown with the business.

Dream job if you weren't doing this: I would love to be a landscape gardener. I suspect the reality of working in a wet muddy garden in the winter may change my mind.

What do you drive: A Mercedes Vito Crew Cab. Not very exciting but very practical, full size seat for each of the kids and loads of boot room for bikes. Also very useful for delivering bulky equipment to site.

What would you like to drive: An Aston Martin DB5... for obvious reasons

Perfect day: A day out with my fiancée and kids, followed by a large roast dinner.

Favourite team: I'm not a massive follower of football but I do love playing Sunday league football.

Favourite read: The One That Got Away by Chris Ryan.

Favourite film: Pulp Fiction.

Best holiday: Next month I am getting married and will be going to Dubai and the Maldives for our honeymoon so I am hoping this will be my best holiday so far.

Most admire: The other directors within our business.

Favourite hobbies: I love snowboarding.

Greatest fear: Spiders they move too fast.

What motivates you: There is no better feeling than a complex job going well and getting good feedback from a happy customer.

Tips for business success: Honesty is the best policy. Integrity is a big part of building up a long-term business relationship.

Best thing about your job: As with most jobs, it's the people.

Most recent business achievement of note: I passed my NEBOSH Construction certificate with a Distinction.

Possessions you couldn't do without: Unfortunately, I would have to say my phone.

Pet hate: Voicemail messages.

Thoughts on the forecourt sector: The market is changing but with that comes a lot of opportunities.

Three words to describe yourself: Honest, hardworking and innovative.
