Waitrose c-store plan

Waitrose has revealed plans to trial convenience stores of 2,000sq ft next year. The upmarket grocery chain, owned by the John Lewis Partnership, said the smaller format gave it the potential for a further 300 shops. The move followed the announcement in May that Waitrose had entered into a franchise partnership with Welcome Break, opening stores on sites on the M40 at Oxford and the M25 at South Mimms. The company said the partnership would be rolled out to another nine Welcome Break sites.
