A 27-year-old who robbed a Total station, as his accomplice held a knife to a cashier’s neck, has been jailed for
eight years.
Danny Cordwell, of Clifton, Nottingham, was one of three men who raided the Hucknall Road outlet in the city in August last year. He took £200 from the till, as another raider who has never been caught held the knife and an imitation gun to a cashier’s neck, Nottingham Crown Court was told.
A teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stood guard at the shop door and told customers on the forecourt: "No phones. I’ll remember your faces."
Sentencing Cordwell, Judge Jonathan Teare said it was "a terrifying robbery carried out in broad daylight while people were coming to fill up their vehicles".
Cordwell was also sentenced to serve nine months, to run concurrently with the eight years, for a separate offence of handling stolen goods. The teenager was given a two-year detention and training order after admitting two charges of robbery and possessing a firearm.
A third defendant, Jason Usher, 21, of Basford, Nottingham, admitted perverting the course of justice and aiding and abetting an offender, by allowing his car to be used in the robbery. He was sentenced to 27 months in jail.
