RMI Petrol has brought another Top 50 Indie company into membership of the trade association – Somerset-based Symonds Forecourts.
Brian Madderson, chairman of RMI Petrol, said: “We are delighted to have full support from this professional, family company and make further inroads with the top petrol filling station groups.”
Symonds has emerged out of a family owned and run wholesale and convenience shop business started in 1964. After selling the convenience assets to Martin McColl and the wholesale business to Palmer and Harvey respectively, chief executive Jeremy Symonds has advanced in the petrol retailing sector and now has nine forecourt and convenience shops across the West Country.
More recently, Nick Lloyd joined as managing director to add specific convenience expertise following his career with Budgens.
Symonds has fuel supply agreements with BP, Texaco, Shell and Jet, along with Londis and Budgens-branded shops. As reported in Forecourt Trader, Nick has recently introduced a comprehensive staff training module which will ensure the highest standards of customer service.
Jeremy Symonds, chief executive of Symonds Forecourts, said: “As a family we have had many years as an independent retailer and recognise the challenges being faced by many. It is important that views and concerns are consolidated to ensure the correct action is taken to support independent retailers.”
