RMI Petrol has joined the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) as affinity group members. The deal, which gives RMI Petrol the same standing in ACS policy-making as symbol group members, is aimed at giving independent forecourts retailers comprehensive representation.

RMI Petrol chairman Brian Madderson said: "Joining ACS will give our members a route to influence issues relating to their convenience store as well as to the fuel side of their business. ACS’ effective lobbying on issues ranging from planning to alcohol policy to Sunday trading will add value to RMI Petrol members. The organisations already work closely together, and this cements our relationship."

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: "RMI Petrol’s membership further extends our reach into the crucially important independent forecourt sector. By working together we can make more of an impact with government and deliver better value for members. RMIP’s development in recent years has been fantastic news for the industry, and we are pleased to support that moving forward."
