Up-and-coming forecourt operator Intake Developments has acquired two new sites, taking its total of forecourts to eight, as well as one standalone convenience store.

The Sheffield-based company has bought sites at Breton near Barnsley, and at Stubley, near Dronfield, which is midway between Chesterfield and Sheffield.

Intake director Fiona Campbell said the sites would be run on a commission operator basis and both had been converted from Total to Jet, which supplies Intake’s other sites.

The company has a track record of developing the retail operations of its sites and she said both the new sites would have off-licences and offer facilities such as ATMs and car washing.

She added: “We’ve haven’t spent very much yet. We’ve done some basic shop fitting and added our Torex, Prism and Prism Plus systems, but we are just working out the details of what we want to do with them.

“At Stubley, we’ll just be looking to increase sales a bit, but at Breton there’s a large store with very little in use.”

 She said there was probably scope to double the size of the shop to around 600sq ft and install a lot of chillers.

The acquisitions were funded with a £600,000 loan provided by Santander and resources from Intake, while an additional overdraft provision of £250,000 from Santander will help with working capital.
