Ginsters is bringing a new concept to the snacks market with the launch of Deli Bake – a lower calorie product that bridges the gap between bread products and pastry.

Deli Bake has a light olive oil pastry that has been developed to allow the full flavour of the fillings to come through.

The product can be eaten hot or cold, and is heated in an oven, microwave or contact grill. With 40 per cent less saturated fat than similar pastry products, and with 350 calories, Deli Bake also hopes to attract the more healthy conscious consumer to the Ginsters range.

Peter Judge, sales & marketing director at Ginsters, said: “Our objective is to create a £30m sector in the launch year. There has been little innovation in the pastry market so we are confident that we can encourage a new level of demand. This is a mainstream offering that addresses the ongoing health issues without being positioned as a diet product.”

Deli Bakes, which will be available from September 7 with a rrp of £1.69, comes in four flavours: chicken & bacon in a cream & herb sauce, chicken & mushroom in a cream sauce, pepper steak with cheese, and mozzarella cheese salsa.
