BP has responded to complaints by angry motorists who were issued with fines for being parked for longer than 20 minutes at Gatwick Airport sites by doubling the time limit to 40. But new penalties are also being implemented - a £50 fine if paid within 14 days and £100 if not. A spokesman said they were necessary as some motorists used the sites as car parks while waiting for airport passengers.

A New Year's Day tragedy took place at a Shell petrol station in Barking when a teenager was stabbed to death on his way home from a night out with friends. CCTV footage from the site could play a vital role in catching the killer.

Torex Retail, provider of technology systems and support services, has sold its leisure, hotel and digital signage systems businesses for £8m in order to put greater focus on its core markets - which include the petroleum and convenience sectors.
