Credit fraud losses at UK petrol stations have more than halved in two years, according to APACS. Losses fell from £12.7m in 2005 to £6m in 2007. The data, which related to cards being used fraudulently and not card details being stolen, was in keeping with general fraud at UK retailers, which has fallen by two thirds in the past three years.

The government's top environment scientist, Robert Watson, has warned that the introduction of the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligations (RTFO) should be postponed until more is known about the sustainability of biofuels.
