Topaz, Ireland's largest fuels and convenience retailer, was recognised for its "new format, which responds to

consumer needs in food and fuel" at the inaugural International Convenience Retailer of the Year awards, run by the National Association of Convenience Stores. The awards were launched to recognise the outstanding contributions to the world of grocery retailing.

Topaz, which has a network of over 300 service stations, was one of the runners-up for the International Convenience Store of the Year award which went to Spar China. Some of the innovations that helped Topaz achieve this award were their services touchscreen technology, seating area, shower facilities and internet kiosks available at flagship stores at Dublin Port and in Kill, Co Kildare. Frank Gleeson, retail director of Topaz, said: "We're delighted to be recognised on an international scale for our store facilities and customer service offerings."
