Every little helps
Tesco is believed to be axing the hand car operations run by independent suppliers at its stores. Sources told Forecourt Trader that the supermarket was understood to be planning to phase out the service as individual contracts came to an end. Tesco was unable to confirm or deny the rumours, with a spokesman saying: "We’re constantly reviewing all the services we offer our customers. As we are in discussion with our suppliers, we can not comment further at this time."
Snax 24 signs with BP
BP and Snax 24 have agreed a new five-year deal. BP said it would supply around 200 million litres of fuel a year to 39 existing Snax 24 sites plus four new planned conversions. Peter Molloy, BP’s UK sales manager, (pictured above) said: "I am delighted to have extended our strong partnership with Snax 24. The new deal not only extends the number of sites within the existing agreement but a number of additional sites have also been agreed."
Buncefield fines
Total UK and four other companies have been ordered to pay more than £9 million in combined fines and costs over their part in the Buncefield oil depot explosion. Total was fined £3,600,000, plus £2,600,000 costs, for failing to protect workers and the public over the explosion in 2005. Hertfordshire Oil Storage Limited, British Pipeline Agency Ltd, Motherwell Control Systems 2003 Ltd and TAV Engineering Ltd were also sentenced on July 16 at St
Albans Crown Court.
