Scotsman Beverage Systems is launching its Ice Bell chiller in the UK.
The Ice Bell is an illuminated, open-topped unit which is shaped like a soft drinks bell glass.
It is 1m tall and designed to be an eye-catching alternative to the traditional chillers.
Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) is currently trialling it in Moto service stations. Jon Piper, business development manager at CCE, said: "Some Moto sites have seen weekly sales of Coca-Cola double since we introduced the unit," he said. "It is a real crowd puller and encourages impulse purchases. We plan to extend the trial and will be working on additional point of sale material to support it."
The Ice Bell is filled with water which is made into ice flakes. These cascade down in a fountain to chill the bottles and cans. As the ice melts, it is recycled to form fresh flakes - it does not need a mains water connection.
