Total UK has started offering AdBlue HGV additives from a pump on five UK forecourts.

The company said the move was in response to the requirement for HGV vehicles to meet the environmental requirements of the Euro 5 standards on polluting. In order to meet this requirement, AdBlue is used in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) process to reduce the emissions of oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust of diesel engine vehicles.

Total said most manufacturers had turned to SCR technology to help them achieve these standards. Historically, dispensers of AdBlue have been set up on fleet premises, but this can mean expense and disruption. So to help reduce costs and offer a convenient alternative, Total has put AdBlue pump dispensers on the following sites: TCS Kings Lynn, Kings Lynn, Norfolk; TCS Barthomley, Junction 16 M6, Cheshire; TCS Godmanchester, Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire; TCS Appleby Magna, M42/A42, Derbyshire; and TCS Thickthorn, A11/A47 Norwich, Norfolk.
