LCC Group has been given the go ahead to turn a former petrol forecourt back into a Go branded self-service filling station. The site, at Brewer Street, Kirkdale, Lancashire became a hand car wash in 2000.
The plans are to reinstate the filling station which would include the installation of three underground tanks, canopy, two pump islands, car wash bay and vending machine. It would operate 24 hours a day.
There were concerns from the planning committee about accessibility for disabled people, however it was noted that the site would have 24-hour monitoring in the event of emergencies and a two-way voice call point would be installed to allow the public to contact a Go representative. It was estimated that a Go rep could be on the forecourt within five to 10 minutes.
The site was given approval by Liverpool City Council with a number of conditions including that there would be no fuel deliveries between 11pm and 7am and that the air, water and jet wash facilities could only be used between 7am and 9pm.
Although the site will be unattended by any staff, Go staff will visit the site every day for general tidying up and cleaning of pumps and hoses.
