Plans have been submitted to north Herts Council to bring a disused filling station back to the sector. The White Horse Service Station in Baldock ceased selling fuel between 2010 and 2015 based on historic map imagery.
Planning documents reveal developers are seeking to demolish the existing canopy, forecourt shop and car-wash infrastructure, constructing in its place a modern service station complete with EV charging.
With the current buildings on the site aredescribed as “dated and of limited architectural merit”, the plans indicate the proposed 1,900sq ft shop that will take their place will feature wood cladding and a glass façade, while the forecourt canopy roof will play host to solar panels.
A rollover car wash and jet-wash facility also feature in the proposals. The village location sits sits roughly two miles to the east of Letchworth Garden City.
