The rapidly expanding Ascona forecourt group has revealed its third purchase in a month with the acquisition of Wales Bar Service Station on the A618 in Sheffield.

The site was sold by Forecourts4sale on behalf of Keith Wilson, who is retiring. It is a BP-branded forecourt with fuel sales of more than 3mlpa.

At the end of last month, Christie & Co announced it had completed the sale of Lomas Kington Service Station in Kington, Herefordshire, which had been sold to Ascona Group.

And earlier in January, Ascona bought Mossdale Service Station, located on the A6, near to Carnforth in Lancashire. Following the acquisition of Lomas Kington, Duncan Morris, property director at Ascona Group, said: "We are probably the fastest- growing group in the sector having gone from two sites to nine in the space of 15 months. It’s an exciting time for all in the business as site numbers are set to grow by at least a further five sites in the next 60 days, with much more in the pipeline."
