EGOTM’s proposals follow the firm’s usual forecourt formula, albeit without a separate coffee shop in this instance

Top 50 Indie EG On The Move is proposing to knock down a disused pub and construct a new-to-sector forecourt on a main road west of Droitwich, Worcestershire – but the firm’s plans are already under threat after the parish council objected to the project “very strongly”.

The site, which was previously home to the Reindeer pub, has traded as an equestrian shop since 2015.

With the shop closing down and the site changing hands as part of a retirement sale, EG On The Move is proposing to demolish the old pub building and build a four-pump-island filling station on the land.

The firm originally envisaged constructing a drive-thru coffee shop as well, but withdrew this aspect from its proposals following pre-application advice from the local planning authority.

The firm’s plans now comprise just the forecourt, a glass-fronted shop served by 15 customer parking spaces, and four EV charging bays.

One spanner has already been thrown in the works, however: because while Wychavon District Council is the relevant planning authority, EGOTM has had to consult with Ombersley & Doverdale Parish Council, which “very strongly objects” to its proposals.

The firm’s plans are facing a challenge from the parish council, which describes the site as being on the “one of the most dangerous parts” of the A449 main road

The parish council says there are already three petrol stations within four miles of the site, while arguing that the plot is “on one of the most dangerous parts of the A449” main road.
