Top 50 Indie EG On The Move is looking to construct a new-to-sector forecourt in Paignton, Devon, and is awaiting a council decision on its planning application for the project.
The location for the proposed forecourt is the former home of Alan Kerr Motorhome Dealers, which in the past traded as a filling station and occupies a 0.9-acre site. The property was offered for sale last year with a guide of £1.4m to £1.5m.
Now, EGOTM is seeking permission to demolish the site, which sits is on the A3022 leading to the popular tourist destination of Brixham.
The firm is looking to construct its standard four-pump-island forecourt, with two 75,000 tanks, four EV charging spots, two jet-wash bays and a shop spanning 5,200sq ft.
EG On The Move’s developers say that while the plot was previously “identified as a potential housing site” by authorities, the property’s estate agent has informed them “there has been no interest from potential developers to develop the site for housing” since it was put on the market last March.
If approved, the forecourt would create around 20 new jobs – though two objections have already been lodged against the project by residents in the surrounding area, with one concerned a new petrol station would impact their privacy and the value of their home due to their proximity to the site.
