East Preston on the West Sussex coast features a first for the forecourt sector – estate agents citing a view of petrol pumps as a major selling point for a luxury apartment.
However these are not ordinary petrol pumps as they have been refurbished to bring them back to their original 1930s art deco splendour.
The Manor Road Garage dates back to the 1930s and was a working petrol station until 1973, but it had fallen into disrepair by the time its facade was grade II listed in 2007.
Now it has been redeveloped into eight luxury homes with the refurbished pumps and their glass domes being highlighted in the details supplied by estate agents Glyn Jones & Co.
However all but one of the apartments have been snapped up with the last one – featuring two bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom, shower room, a large living and dining room, a glass curved wall concealing a kitchen and a south-facing terrace – on the market with a guide price of £285,000.
