Emergency services were called to a former petrol station in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, after reports of an explosion.
After a call at about 12.30pm on Thursday April 7, firefighters from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the site on Tamworth Road, together with a paramedic car, followed by an ambulance and officers from Derbyshire Constabulary, who closed off the road for a short period.
One man, thought to be in his 40s and working at the site, suffered burns and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, for treatment.
It is believed that builders had been working at the site for six to seven weeks, flattening it out.
Plans were submitted to Erewash Borough Council by Jack Loggin Ltd last year to build 12 flats in two three-storey buildings at the site.
