The first completed Asda filling station, in a multi-site project for the supermarket retailer, has been handed over by the construction division of fuel engineering company The Premier Group.
The site, at the retailer’s East Retford store in Nottinghamshire, has been completed as part of a new contract with Asda, with the firm being included in the Asda Framework for the current and forthcoming year.
The work at East Retford included construction of a fully automated petrol filling station in the area of an existing unsurfaced car park. The work undertaken included construction of four lots of four pumps with two 55,000 litre fuel storage tanks, decorative landscaping works, plus a new car park and pedestrian crossing.
The project was completed in a time frame of 10 weeks with site works commencing on 9 May 2016 and handed over on 20 July 2016.
In addition to projects in England, the Asda framework will see The Premier Group working closer to home with sites located in South Wales. The scope of work for the Welsh projects includes the construction of four pump automated petrol filling stations with associated landscaping and car parking area.
Steve Evans, managing director of the construction division of The Premier Group, said: “The construction arm of The Premier Group has a work ethos of showing experience and demonstrating competence. Through validating the high quality work the company does along with the highest standards of health and safety, we were able to successfully secure a substantial contact with Asda, which we are very proud of.
“Building a working relationship with Asda for specialist construction work adds to a strong portfolio of clients for the company, which we are confident will grow as we continue to prove our expertise as a construction company. It also allows us to showcase innovative solutions, which provides improvements for the client and makes projects more efficient for all those involved.”
