The UK’s first Jet and Spar dual-branded site has opened following the April launch of a new convenience partnership between fuel brand and the symbol group.

Jet Maybole in South Ayrshire is the first in a number of Jet sites that have chosen to take up the dual-branding offer. The 12-nozzle site, which has been part of the Jet network since 2007, previously had Premier as its symbol group.

It has been refurbished and is now four times its original size. Maybole’s Post Office has relocated to within the forecourt shop and Lottery and Costa coffee facilities are also available. The expansion at Maybole will create at least 10 jobs as the business develops.

Brian Connolly, owner of Jet Maybole’s said: "Running this size of store, we needed guidance and Spar helped us throughout the redevelopment process. We were keen to develop our forecourt offering to establish a modern shop in the town centre.

"We required a support package for this scenario and the obvious choice for me was to join Spar. We have been Jet customers for seven years and when the Jet/Spar agreement was announced this was the perfect solution."

Paul Yates, Jet territory manager, Scotland, said: "This partnership offers our existing dealer network and any new sites that join an opportunity to strengthen their own unique retail offering by combining two well-established and respected retail brands. We’re already in discussions with a number of our existing and prospective dealers ."

Bill Mair, sales director for CJ Lang & Son, Spar’s wholesaler for Scotland, added: "Thanks to the new partnership, we’re likely to see Spar’s presence on forecourts increase considerably as more dealers see the benefits of partnering with two leading retail brands."
