Sewell makes sunday times list

Top 50 Indie Sewell on the go has been recognised as one of the 100 best companies to work for by The Sunday Times. The accolade was conferred on the forecourt group’s parent company, Sewell Group, which has its headquarters in Hull.

valero buys fuel storage facility

Valero Logistics UK Ltd is to buy the SemLogistics Milford Haven fuel storage facility on the west coast of Wales. Situated across the Haven from Valero’s refinery at Pembroke, the facility is described as one of the largest petroleum products storage facilities in the UK, with 8.5 million barrels of capacity. Joe Gorder, Valero chairman, president and ceo, said: "This purchase demonstrates Valero’s commitment to Wales and the UK, and it aligns with our strategy to grow the logistics business and reduce secondary costs."

investment firm buys forecourt

A property investment company has acquired an Applegreen petrol filling station in Crawley, West Sussex, for £3.82m. AEW UK Long Lease REIT plc said the acquisition price reflects a net initial yield of 5.3% and provides it with a lease term of 15 years to expiry with three-yearly rental uplifts linked to RPI, capped at 3.5%. The site comprises an Applegreen-branded petrol station occupying a site of 1.5 acres. It has eight filling points as well as parking for 20 cars, a convenience store, Greggs bakery, Subway sandwich shop and an off-licence.

mpk invests in training

Top 50 Indie MPK Garages has teamed up with training provider, First Response Training, to provide its staff with management development coaching. Following a major internal restructure, the UK forecourt operator identified a requirement to upskill its existing and new team members with training in effective people management techniques.

bp/total card deal

BP and Total have agreed a deal to accept each other’s fuel cards across Europe.

This means that both BP/Aral card and Total card will be accepted at an additional 4,000 stations.
