robbie bell moves to mccoll’s
Welcome Break’s former chief executive Robbie Bell has been appointed chief financial officer of McColl’s Retail Group plc. Bell will take up his new appointment on January 17. His departure from Welcome Break follows its takeover by Applegreen, with John Diviney, managing director of Applegreen’s UK operation taking over.
euro garages’ application
Euro Garages’ parent company EG Group has applied for planning permission for a petrol filling station (PFS), ancillary retail, drive-thru and parking at the City South area of Portlethen, in Aberdeenshire. The application is for a PFS with five pump stations and an additional two pump stations for HGVs.
police appeal
West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a petrol station in Leeds. At about 9.40pm on December 23 three masked men entered the Euro Garages station, in Wetherby Road, Leeds, and threatened the lone member of staff and assaulted him. He received a number of minor puncture wounds. He was forced to open the safe and the men stole cash and scratchcards. They also took cash from the till and cigarettes from the counter.
arsonists sentenced
Two men who set fire to a taxi on a petrol forecourt in Kent, while the driver was in the car, have been jailed. Warren Hearne and Danny Frost both pleaded guilty to arson that was reckless. Herne received six years and four months in prison. Frost was sentenced to five years and seven months.
two new bp sites
Two new BP service stations with M&S Simply Food stores have opened. Approximately £2.7m was spent on the site at Bear Way, Desborough in Northamptonshire. In Newport, Shropshire, the investment was about £2.6m.
petrol thief jailed
A thief who stole more than £4,000-worth of fuel from petrol stations across Solihull and Birmingham has been jailed for three years and two months after being convicted of more than 48 fuel thefts.
