A Gloucestershire man has been jailed for four years and eight months after robbing a petrol station when armed with an imitation handgun.
Adam Kawkins, 44, from Drybrook, drove onto the forecourt at Lea Garage on the A40 in Hertfordshire at 7:45pm on February 18 this year before entering the shop, threatening the lone female cashier with a BB gun that resembled a firearm, and filling a bag with cash and cigarettes.
Worcester Crown Court heard Hawkins, who was charged with robbery, and possession of an imitation firearm while committing a robbery, also tampered with electronic equipment, removing what he thought was a CCTV recording device, the Ross Gazette reports.
Despite partially obscuring its rear number plate with green tape, Hawkins used his own car in the commission of the crime and was tracked down by officers after they examined CCTV footage.
