A new EV charging hub has opened in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, with the 12-bay station located a stone’s throw away from the A50 trunk road.
The hub, operated by Allego, which has around 750 locations across Europe, features six 150kW Alpitronic Hyperchargers, which have cemented themselves as the industry standard for ultra-rapid units.
As Allego’s largest site in the UK so far, the Uttoxeter Road hub is also one of the biggest charging stations in the city.
Being situated near a key regional transport corridor, the charging station is expected to serve EV drivers travelling between Manchester, Derby and the surrounding areas, as well as the estimated 1,500 electric-car drivers living in Stoke-on-Trent.
Allego’s UK managing director, Paz Sharma, said he is “delighted” to open the new charging station, adding: “This site marks a major milestone for Allego as our largest in the UK to date, signalling an important step forward as we accelerate our national rollout.”
Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker from Stoke-on-Trent’s city council, commented: ““We welcome the move by Allego to open a new EV charging hub in Stoke-on-Trent.”
