Nisa has announced the launch of one of the first Nisa-branded forecourts following its partnership deal with Greenergy.

The Nisa Local in Shildon on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland in County Durham is one of the first three fully Nisa-branded forecourts.

The forecourt store was built about 15 years ago and until recently was run as a Jet petrol station. The business focused on the filling station side of the store, but it decided that to move forward it needed to become more conscious of its customers wider shopping needs.

Focus has now moved to a convenience business model with the store stocking a different range based on what shoppers want, including a Costa Coffee machine, intended to make it more of a one-stop shop.

Since the changeover, fuel volume is up 14.2%, retail sales have increased by 21.3%, and footfall is up by 15.3%. A further uplift is expected after the store was granted a drinks licence.

"We’re delighted to see the Nisa Local forecourt at Shildon open and look forward to working with Joan Raw and her team," said Nisa retail development director Raj Krishan.

The three current Nisa-branded forecourts are located in Wrexham, Sheffield and Shildon, but Nisa said many more were in development.
