Palmer and Harvey has appointed Rory Brick as head of symbol. Rory joins from Mace, the construction and consultancy firm, where he was programme manager on the Sainsbury’s account. He was responsible for a major capital investment programme improving stores’ energy efficiency.

Rory’s experience encompasses retail, marketing, supply chain, category management, equipment development and store design.

Previously Rory was on the store development team, providing support and direction to a number of major initiatives, including project managing a programme of building fabric surveys across the estate. This work developed further into co-ordinating a restorative works programme together with a new programme of responsive surveys to the clients’ portfolio of petrol forecourts.

Prior to Mace, Rory worked at Safeway, where he was operations manager for compact stores responsible for space and range, price and promotions. Rory’s career also includes senior roles in category operations at Safeway on Grocery, Home and Leisure and Non-foods.

Richard Hayhoe, marketing director of Palmer and Harvey, added: “Rory has fantastic retail experience and is a real asset to our team. His experience encompasses all aspects of our business channels and his leadership track-record with multi-disciplined project teams will be a real asset. His addition to the team gives us an ideal platform to drive our offer and bring an even greater focus to our symbol business going forward. Rory will be focusing on growing our existing customers’ business and targeting new areas for development. ”
