Police in Hereford yesterday released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about an arson attack at a petrol station.

A storage shed at the side of the Apple Green on Ross Road was set alight shortly after 3am on Sunday, 7 July.

The shed and all the items in it were completely destroyed in the fire.

Detective constable Marie Bridgewater is investigating the incident. She said: “Thankfully, nobody was hurt in this incident but this could have been a lot worse as to set fire to anything on the site of a petrol station is clearly extremely dangerous.

“This was a totally reckless act and whoever carried it out showed no regard for the safety of staff or the public as the garage was still open at the time.

“We need to find out who is responsible for this offence and we are keen to speak to the man in this CCTV image as we believe he may have information which could help us with our inquiries.

“I would urge anyone who knows the identity of the man in this image to call us.”

Anyone with any information, can call DC Bridgewater on 0300 333 3000 quoting reference 28N 070713, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
