With forecourts increasing their food-to-go offerings, a kiosk can bring upselling potential

It has become established knowledge that self-scan tills can meaningfully increase customer spending, but fresh research indicates installing self-service touchscreen kiosks can boost basket sizes by 29%.

The kiosks differ from traditional self-scan tills in that they are specifically designed for the more intricate orders food and drink involve. And forecourt operators who have fast-food concessions on site, or offer their own food-to-go provision, could benefit from adopting the technology.

Research from forecourt equipment and services provider TSG Solutions indicates installing a kiosk can see customers spend 29% more per transaction, with the touchscreen devices also increasing the amount of time staff have for other activities by 21%. The kiosks can see just over half (52%) of customers upsell themselves when ordering, while queues can be cut by as much as 40% if kiosks are implemented.

TSG is an official supplier of Dover Fuelling Solutions’ Order Kiosk, a sleek unit with a customisable screen that can be specified in freestanding, wall-mounted or countertop formats, making it easy to integrate into forecourts.

Backed up by hardware from Samsung, the kiosk works seamlessly with the Prizma software ecosystem, while also offering integration for Uber Eats and Just Eat platforms.
