Sewell on the go South Cave in Brough, East Yorkshire, has won the top prize at the prestigious Forecourt Trader of the Year Awards, held at the London Hilton Park Lane.

On a sell-out night hosted by entertainer Brian Conley, the award was presented to Patrick Sewell, managing director of the company.

Forecourt Trader editor Merril Boulton, chairman of the judges, said: “Sewell on the go South Cave takes forecourt convenience to a new level. The site was completely reimagined last year during a £1.5m redevelopment, creating improved access and new facilities which make full use of the land. It is complemented by a bright, larger welcoming store for all. Store decoration is rustic in part, creating a farm shop feel and aisles are stocked with local produce and quality groceries, supplemented with popular brands such as Costa Express and Subway. Customer service is a priority as is supporting the local community with numerous initiatives It’s a fantastic operation and a deserving winner of the top prize.”

Graham Peacock, the recently retired chief executive of Top 50 Indie MRH, won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Applegreen’s chief executive and chief operations officer, Bob Etchingham and Jo Barrett, picked up the Gulf Special Recognition Award, supported by the event’s principal sponsor Certas Energy, following an online vote by the readers of Forecourt Trader.
