Park Garages has introduced the protein bar category into its stores following a trial with Active Nutrition International (ANI), the parent company to PowerBar.
In a trial across 10 Park Garages sites to test the attractiveness of the protein bar category in store, the company says PowerBar sold faster than some familiar UK household brands in snacking. The range will be listed across Park Garages main estate and ANI will become the category captain for Park Garages providing category insight from IRI data and merchandising support on how to optimise the fixture. The range is delivered via Bestway Wholesale.
Miles Harvey of Park Garages said: “Partnering with the right brand such as PowerBar was extremely important for us, as we enter into the sports nutrition category for the first time.
With high performance credentials and over 30 years of heritage, they are able to support us with their expertise and category advice.”
Richard Danks, country manager of Active Nutrition International in the UK, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Park Garages. As a brand we have focused on Sports Retailers in the past but as the category evolves the consumer are now accessing their sports nutrition or nutritional snack requirements in mainstream outlets.
“Over 70% of new consumers into the category do so through on-the-go formats, with protein bars accelerating by over 26% YOY growth across convenience and grocery outlets.
“The UK is the biggest market for Sports Nutrition in Western Europe and as the nation becomes more active, it’s an exciting time for retailers to develop this category in store.”
