Kettle is introducing a new limited-edition flavour of its hand-cooked sharing chips - Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion - which was voted top in an online consumer poll. Launching this month, and replacing the winter seasonal of Baked Camembert & Oak Smoked Garlic, the new flavour will be available throughout the summer.

The new flavour was the brainchild of the Kettle chef, Phil Hovey, who was tasked with creating a seasoning which captures the spirit of summer food. Phil chose the winning combination of rich and creamy goats’ cheese enhanced by the sweet tanginess of balsamic pickled onions.

Andy Verney, Kettle Foods head of impulse commented: “The seasonal editions play a key role in delivering flavour innovation in the category and generating consumer excitement. Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion will give a seasonal boost to our strong core range and offers retailers something new for their customers. As the leading premium crisp and a top-three sharing brand, Ketttle can help capitalise on consumer trends towards better-quality snacking options and the continuing popularity of entertaining at home.

"As with all our products, the seasoning is made with real food ingredients. Kettle never adds any artificial flavours, colours or MSG to their products, which some other crisp manufacturers use to make flavourings. And like the rest of the range, Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion are made from the finest potatoes and hand-cooked in batches, using sunflower oil."

Packaged in a purple bag to create on-shelf stand out, the RSP of Goats’ Cheese & Balsamic Onion is £1.99 per 150g bag, and they come in outers of 12 bags.

"Kettle is performing extremely well in convenience with sales up by 10.2% year on year versus the category which grew by 0.8%," added Verney. "Kettle Chips sharing bags are showing even stronger increases of 13.1% indicating that the summer seasonal, along with the rest of the core range, can help convenience retailers drive sales in the premium sharing snacks category.
