Britvic Soft Drinks has been forced to rename its recently launched Freekee Soda to Tango Strange Soda following a legal challenge.

Britvic’s category director Andrew Marsden said the new name would apply from September 1, adding that the product had achieved ‘fantastic success’ in its launch phase, reaching 39 per cent impulse distribution. He also said the new Tango branding would bring ‘added credibility to the drink’ broadening its appeal to both kids and mums alike.

Britvic claims Freekee Soda has added 50 per cent incremental volume to the kids fizzy drinks category in just three months since its launch, and its new parent brand Tango is up 51 per cent versus last year, with Tango 550ml up 65 per cent on last year.
