G&P Batteries has introduced a service to help recycle used batteries in the workplace. The BattBox is a pre-paid collection service for waste portable batteries, including those used in mobile or cordless phones, laptop computers and wireless keyboards. For a fee of £25 (plus VAT), companies receive a BattBox which sits on a desk or shelf in a location that is easily accessible to all staff. Once full, the BattBox is removed by G&P. According to the company, even the BattBox itself is eventually recycled, often finding its way back into the battery industry as casing for automotive batteries. "Many people are vaguely aware that batteries need to be disposed of responsibly but we have evidence that shows a large proportion of them have no idea how best to do this, or even that waste batteries can be recycled," said Michael Green, managing director of G & P Batteries. 0121 568 3200 |
