Istobal, the Spanish car wash and car care solutions provider, has presented its first Sustainability Report, a detailed document summarising the key actions carried out by the company in terms of sustainability during the year 2022.
The report reflects the company’s main contributions, achievements and challenges, underlining Istobal’s commitment to sustainable innovation in vehicle washing, in line with environmental, social and corporate governance principles.
“At Istobal, we want to lead a new way of doing things, respecting our environment and moving towards innovation, that will revolutionise the car wash sector,” said Antonio Martínez, the company’s managing director.
”This report shows that sustainability is not a destination, but the vehicle for the journey we have decided to take. Our company´s commitment to sustainability is an opportunity to be better prepared for future challenges and to strengthen business resilience throughout our value chain, helping us to drive key principles for future growth such as efficiency, adaptability and transparency.
“Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond mere regulatory obligations. It involves taking responsibility for the environment, seeking competitive advantage, fostering innovation, managing risk and leading in a world that demands a genuine commitment to protecting the planet,” he said.
Placing people and the environment at the heart of its operations, the company has defined its Sustainability Master Plan for 2023-2025, which includes comprehensive initiatives that minimise environmental impact, promote well-being and contribute to the conservation of the environment.
From a social perspective, Istobal recognises that protecting the environment is equivalent to looking after the well-being of the people in it. The company promotes various social, educational, sporting and cultural initiatives to stimulate employment, encourage innovation and promote sustainable development at a local level. It also demonstrates an active commitment through measures that favour the training, inclusion and development of talent.
The design and manufacture of vehicle wash solutions are also central to Istobal’s roadmap, which seeks to lead the industry in the adoption of sustainable practices, weighing long-term success not only in financial terms, but also in the value of social return.
The Sustainability Report follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an internationally recognised framework for sustainable reporting. Istobal says it is committed to providing transparent and detailed information on its sustainable performance, enabling an objective assessment of its practices and achievements.
Istobal reiterated its focus on reducing resource consumption, promoting innovation and adopting responsible production practices, leading the integration of sustainable solutions in all its operations and value chain to minimise climate impact, thus contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Goals for the 2030 Agenda.
