German Doner Kebab (GDK) plans to open next month at Cobham Services: the UK’s busiest and largest service station and this month’s winner of Forecourt Trader’s prestigious motorway services award.
The addition of the fast-casual dining outlet to the M25 services in Surrey, represents GDK’s fourth motorway restaurant in partnership with Extra MSA, and follows sites at Baldock, Cambridge and Peterborough.
GDK, which prides itself on using ’high-quality meats, fresh locally sourced salad and handmade signature sauces’, says that this is a signifcant step for its halal brand which offers a modern twist on the classic kebab.
The Cobham motorway service area (MSA), which has millions of visitors every year, was chosen as the top MSA for the seventh year running at the 2025 Forecourt Trader Awards. The site has recently undergone an EV infrastructure upgrade to include 24 Ionity 350kW super-fast chargers, and it boasts an outdoor play area, dog-walking facilities, picnic spaces, and a scenic lakeside walk.
Simon Wallis, GDK chief executive, says: “Cobham Services is a truly unique and dynamic location, welcoming huge numbers of travellers every day. Opening here is an exciting opportunity for us to connect with a wide mix of customers on the move while introducing them to ‘Kebabs. Done Right’.
“This milestone reflects the continued momentum behind GDK’s growth across the UK, especially our presence in service stations, demonstrating how well the GDK model works across a number of retail formats.”
Tom Dobson, chief executive at Extra MSA, adds: “We’re excited to expand our partnership with GDK, with this opening marking its fourth location across our estate.
”At Extra MSA, we’re committed to going above and beyond to give our customers access to a wide range of high-quality food and drink brands. The launch of GDK at our Cobham location is a key milestone in delivering that promise.”
