EG On The Move has been given the green light to build a new forecourt with drive-thru Starbucks and EV charging on a site in Newtown, Powys.
Outline planning consent was awarded by Powys County Council last year and this latest approval is for phase one of the development.
The land, adjacent to Glandulas Farm Caravan Park at Llanllwchaiarn, Newtown, is located off the A489 Newtown By-Pass roundabout, on the eastern approach to the town. The site was identified as a proposed location for a commercial facility to serve those travelling through mid-Wales along the A489.
Phase one of the development will include a petrol filling station with HGV fuelling, two jet wash bays, four rapid EV charging bays and Starbucks with drive-thru facilities with a further two rapid charging EV bays.
One stipulation from the Council was that as the approved development involves the unloading of petrol into stationary storage tanks and refuelling of motor vehicles at a service station, EG On The Move must consult Environmental Protection to determine the requirement for an application for an Environmental Permit, under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (as amended).
