EG On The Move will tomorrow (June 2) open in Newcastle upon Tyne the latest of 30 new SpudBros Express concessions it intends to roll out over the next three years.
The forecourt group announced plans to expand the partnership with the jacket potato brand last month after trials at its Blackburn and Wakefield locations that began in December. It has also launched SpudBros at its site in Barnstaple, and is targeting 15 openings this year alone.
The EG On The Move collaboration is the first time fast growing SpudBros, which is represented by food brands group Taster, has been available in the roadside market. The fast food operator has also recently unveiled standalone city centre outlets in London, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Portsmouth.
SpudBros joins other concessions Starbucks and Bills Bakery at the 24-hour Cobalt Park BP site on the A19/A1058 Silverlink interchange, which opened in September.
To celebrate the launch, the outlet will be giving away a free potato to the first 100 customers from 12pm and doors will stay open until 9pm. Normal opening hours will be 11am to 9pm on Sunday to Thursday, with closing extended until 10pm at weekends.
Zuber Issa, CEO of EG On The Move, says he is “delighted to bring SpudBros Express to Newcastle as part of our continued commitment to enhancing the roadside retail experience”.
SpudBros traces its history to a market stall in Preston in 1955 and has evolved into a national brand largely thanks to a successful social marketing presence.
