An ex-Tesco employee has been charged with theft after more than £2,000-worth of fuel was stolen from two of the supermarket’s petrol stations in Hertfordshire.
According to thecomet.net, Ryan Harris has been charged with seven counts of making off without payment after an internal operation by Tesco uncovered the thefts.
Fuel thefts had taken place at the Tesco forecourts in Stevenage and Baldock between June 27 and August 4, with a total of £2,256.75-worth of fuel stolen.
Police think Harris used a key to circumvent the fuel pumps, which allowed him to take more than 200 litres of fuel at a time, before driving off without paying.
During his last theft, Tesco’s security team detained Harris and he was arrested by police. He is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 14.
