Broughton Service Station: The over 4mlpa volume site is being repumped and repiped

Shinon Group, run by two directors in their 30s and growing at a rate of at least one store a year since 2021, plans to invest around £350,000 in its latest and sixth acquisition.

Directors Sajeev Gowrinathan, and Suvarnan Sivapatham, aka Swan Siva, who were originally petrol station colleagues, bought Broughton Service Station, near Preston in Lancashire, two months ago.

It is part of their ambitious plans to expand in their Cheshire and North West of England heartland with their sights now set on operating 15 petrol filling stations in the next five years.

At Broughton Service Station they plan to install four new Madic pumps, with the option of adding pay at pump later, and to repipe the Texaco garage which sells over 4mlpa of fuel.

The existing air, vacuum and single jet wash machine will also be upgraded by Air-Serv; parcel lockers will be introduced; and there are plans to add an external digital media display to promote in-store deals and a new rapid delivery business that they plan to launch.

The business partners also plan to double the size of the £15,000-plus turnover a week shop to 1,000sq ft, and to switch fascia from Premier to Budgens. Also, food to go will be a focus with a Country Choice hot range including steak bakes and sausage rolls, a frozen drink machine, and Lavazza coffee – the third of their sites to take this brand.

Shinon Group is also investing in Sesami smart safes across its estate, including at Broughton Service Station, which will save the business time, counting cash and checking for any counterfeit notes, says Gowrinathan.
