Top 50 Indie HGS Leicester aka Hockenhulls has opened a Wrights Bakery at its The Stage site in Wigston.
Wrights replaces the Freshly Chopped and Insomnia offers in the store as Freshly Chopped no longer operates in England and, although the Hockenhulls loved the Insomnia brand, they weren’t able to offer the full barista concept any longer.
HGS Leicester MD Joe Hockenhull says: “We’d had talks with Greggs but didn’t like their idea for what they wanted to do at The Stage. After a random conversation with our rep Tom from Rollover about looking for something similar, he advised us to have a look at Wrights Bakery. Dad and I got in touch and visited them at Crewe, and we were blown away by their offer.”
The opening is Wrights’ 23rd store and its first in Leicester. Brand director at Wrights, Jason Manley, says: “We’re excited to be bringing our famous hot savoury pies and bakes to Leicester for the first time and are pleased to be welcoming new colleagues to the Wrights family.
“We’re incredibly proud of the business we’ve created – we do things the ‘Wright’ way, putting heart and soul into everything we create, whether that’s the quality ingredients we use, the attention we put into perfecting our pastry or the warm welcome customer experience from our staff.”
Hockenhull says: “Working with a brand that embodies family values like ours was a non-negotiable when it came to looking for the right food partner, and we believe this collaboration with Wrights will help us build from strength to strength.”
He adds that opening day last week was fantastic with huge interest from locals, especially as they gave away free sausage rolls to the first 100 customers.
