A man has been arrested following a robbery at the Morrisons petrol station on South Street in Newport, on the Isle of Wight, on Saturday, March 28.
Police said that during the incident, which occurred at around 7.20pm, a man approached a member of staff, kicked him to the ground, hit him in the face – damaging his glasses – and demanded access to the till. He managed to make off with whisky, cigarettes and flowers. Luckily the staff member was not injured.
Police issued a CCTV image of a man they wanted to talk to and a 62-year-old from Ryde has since been arrested. He has been released on bail with conditions until Tuesday June 30, while enquiries continue.
