A man has been sentenced at St Albans Crown Court after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm in an attack on a forecourt at South Mimms.
Danny Clark, aged 36, of Greenoaks Close, Benfleet, Essex, was sentenced, on Wednesday 7 September, to six months in prison suspended for 12 months, 180 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay compensation of £10,000.
The court had heard how on the morning of 15 October 2021, Clark became involved in an argument with another man on the forecourt of the BP Service Station, Bignells Corner, when the victim was punched in the face. He required hospital treatment and surgery after suffering a broken jaw.
Clark contacted the police following the incident, he was interviewed and later charged.
Detective inspector Beth Hanna of the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit said: “This was a nasty incident which took place between two people who were not known to one another. The violence shown was unacceptable and left the victim with a broken jaw in three places which required surgery.
“Thankfully he has at least been spared the ordeal of going through a trial.”
